Nestled away within the beautifully scenic lake district stands the Ambleside Lodge, built in the late 1800’s as a gentleman’s home it has since been passed through several owners hands, including the local government and the national trust. It has now been carefully restored although still contains remnants of its original wood and stone structure, as well as all of its unique character which creates a warm homely atmosphere. The lodge is situated in an ideal location surrounded by lush natural beauty, yet only minutes away from its entrance is about 30 different pubs and restaurants dotted around the local area. The lodge grounds are made up of 2.5 acres of land that is completely accessible to paying guests wanting to have a wander around. If you want to get to the center of Ambleside it’s located just 2 minutes walk from the lodge or alternatively 5 minutes walk will bring you to the fabulous Lake Windermere jetty.
The Ambleside Lodge is a particularly special accommodation that houses a range of 18 spacious and originally decorated rooms with a classic age old Victorian style; expect to find elegant wooden four poster beds, antique Oakwood furniture, large French styled windows with fantastic views of the surrounding area and dazzling motif patterned wall paper. There are 8 rooms on the bottom floor and 10 on the first floor, each has its own unique décor and layout but in general there are 3 main styles to choose from, the standard twin and superior. You’ll find one with a four poster bed, a dining room table and an en-suite Jacuzzi, while another is a family friendly accommodation made up of one large double room that opens up onto a twin; finally there is a newly designed pet friendly room specifically for couples, it comes with a four poser bed and an adjoining Jacuzzi bath tub. All rooms have a digital television and DVD player, a selection of films and WIFI internet access, as well as several other creature comforts.
The hotels reception is constantly staffed through out the day and evening to help guests with any issues that may arise during their stay. There are free on-site parking spaces for those who are travelling by car and dirty laundry can be cleaned daily with a quick drying area in the basement boiler room. In terms of outdoor activities you can play on the large golf courses in the nearby area for those who enjoy the game, also visitors are given complimentary access to the next door ‘Langdale Leisure Club’ which houses a selection of facilities including tennis courts, mini golf, a large gymnasium, a relaxing spa, a sauna room and many others.
Dining options at the Ambleside Lodge include a free morning breakfast made from only the freshest local produce, you can enjoy this either in the comfort of your room or in the main lounge area with other guests. For lunch and dinner there are plenty of nearby choices in both the town and many other scenically beautiful and secluded spots located minutes away from the Ambleside main entrance.
