Family-friendly spa hotel on the mouth of the River Fowey in Cornwall
Overlooking the estuary of the River Fowey, the Fowey Hall Hotel is a spa resort that appeals to families as well as individuals and couples.
Set in the small Cornwall town of Fowey, the 4-star property is ideally located for those looking to enjoy a rest from the hustle and bustle of day-to-day life. The town itself is relatively quiet, despite it being a popular tourist destination. Its proximity to the south coast also means that it is a common choice for those looking to experience the beach.
Each of the hotel’s 36 rooms features a luxury en-suite bathroom. Interconnecting rooms are ideal for families, allowing for a certain amount of separation but the security of closeness. Many rooms overlook the estuary, making for an idyllic vista. A television and DVD player is included, which can be ideal for children, particularly as the hotel has a DVD library from which to pick films from.
The hotel’s spa facilities are top-of-the-range, including a 12m indoor heated swimming pool and a sauna room. A hot tub is featured on an outdoor sun-lounging deck that features a stunning view of the coastline. A wide range of treatments and therapies are on offer, ensuring that all of those creases and knots are eased out before the end of the holiday.
Whilst parents enjoy the spa treatments, the Fowey Hall Hotel offers a range of activities and services to entertain children. As well as offering a fully approved babysitting service, hotel staff can oversee children as they play in the Den (for smaller children), the Beach Hut (for older children), or the Gun Room (which houses games consoles). Pool, table tennis, swimming, and table football are just some of the activities on offer. An outdoor play area is also popular with younger visitors.
Hanson’s Restaurant, found within the hotel, is a double AA rosette winning dining facility, offering a range of different dishes as well as a child-friendly menu. Light and airy, the dining room offers a calm atmosphere in which to enjoy a meal, as well as a stunning view across the Fowey Estuary to Polruan.
The establishment also caters for corporate visitors and celebratory parties.
Those looking for a brief stint away from the luxury of the hotel can visit the town of Fowey itself which houses a number of points of interest, including the ruins of St. Catherine’s Castle and a picturesque harbour. Slightly further afield, yet not far by any means, lies the Cornwall coast and the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Beauty. Here visitors can enjoy scenic vistas and the great outdoors to the full. The air is fresh, the walking good, and the ice cream delicious.
Back at the hotel, guests can enjoy the picturesque garden, perfect for a quiet afternoon’s rest or a game of croquet. Throughout the year a number of specialist events are held at the Fowey Hall Hotel, including murder mystery weekends which always prove enjoyable. By the end of a visit, guests should find themselves well relaxed and rejuvenated.
