Mission Beach Resort

Modern resort accommodation close to the popular Dunk Island

Located on the coastal seafront of north-eastern Queensland, the Mission Beach Resort is an ideal gateway for those looking to enjoy the region’s stunning scenery. Flanked by a World Heritage Site listed rainforest to the west and the World Heritage Site registered Great Barrier Reef to the east, Mission Beach has a little something for everyone.

Consisting of a number of 4-star rooms as well as a few lesser 3.5-star rated rooms, the hotel offers a host of amenities for guests to make use of. As well as cable television, rooms are also equipped with iron and board, hairdryer, and internet connectivity. Rooms are fitted with a private en-suite bathroom.

The higher rated resort style rooms also include air-conditioning and a private patio. The latter of these leads to one of the hotel’s four swimming pools, each of which is surrounded by picturesque landscape gardens. Barbecue and spa facilities are on hand for those that fancy a traditional bite or a relaxing afternoon.

The Fernery Bistro offers guests an on-site dining option. Offering breakfast, lunch and dinner, the restaurant’s buffet style menu is popular with visitors who get to choose from over 80 dishes, including entrees and desserts. An extensive salad bar is also a favourite.

The Local Bar offers an alternative menu of bar meals, as well as a long drinks list. The establishment is popular with sports fans thanks to its large 50 inch TV screens, which plays all of the big games. Guests can also shoot pool on one of the bar’s tables. A Gaming Room is also located within the home.

The Mission Beach Resort also serves as a suitable venue for those travelling on business, or those looking for a wedding destination.

Away from the hotel, guests can visit Mission Beach itself, as well as the accompanying sandy beaches further along the coast. One of the popular tourist destinations is Dunk Island, which is located four kilometres offshore. The island, which is a member of the Family Islands, features a vibrant mix of scenic flora and incredible wildlife.

The Great Barrier Reef, upon which Dunk Island can be found, is the busiest tourist attraction in the country. With Mission Beach looking out over the Coral Sea, many visitors take boat and seaplane trips to visit the stunning array of coloured corals and marine life. Island-hopping tours are available for those that wish to see more than one of the many fantastic islands. Be sure to pack a snorkel or scuba diving kit.

Of course the sea and beach is also suitable for a few more leisurely activities also. Surfing is extremely popular in this region, whilst sunbathing, jogging, or just strolling are popular pursuits.

Those feeling a little more daring might like to venture out to the rainforests and parks that can be found to the west, below the looming gaze of the Great Dividing Range. Mount McKay National Park and Tam O Shanter State Forest can be found close to the Mission Beach Resort whilst Koombooloomba Lake and the Northern Queensland wetlands are somewhat further away.
